Well, I have finally arrived at “blog”! I just love the progression ….. phone and typewriter [remember when?] to computer, to fax, to cell phone, to email, to text, to social networking sites, to blogs….. Oh my! I just love this business and the wonderful journey it has become.
This first one has really been a “labor” of love ….. so giving birth to it is a real accomplishment! I am looking forward to more of these, and to having some great information coming your way.
For starters, one of our recent events was a delightful Bar Mitzvah weekend for a Westwood family. The simple Shabbat dinner at home, was followed on Saturday by a service at Temple Isaiah and a lunch party at Michael’s Santa Monica. The food is consistently lovely and well presented. The charming floral pieces were created by Just Flowers by Val; a long-time friend of the family.
The guests enjoyed their luncheon in the garden while the young adults (kids, to us!) had fun with Heather and Ann from The Party Zone Entertainment. We also provided fun and games with Dance Heads and finished off the day with an ice cream sundae cart from Dandy Don’s.
The best part of the weekend, was watching it all unfold in a manner totally suited to the family. Sometimes when we begin a planning process, we have grand ideas …. But, as we progress, it becomes obvious that is not the real nature of the event or the people involved. So to be a bit philosophical: isn’t that what life is all about? We need to get to the real reasons for what we are doing so that it all makes sense and so that whatever it is, it is uniquely suited to us.
I am not sure how this blog will continue to progress; but I would definitely like it to highlight the wonderful vendors we meet and work with as we plan events. They are all so wonderful. So keep reading each time; who knows what gems you’ll find in these lines!
