Sonoma Wedding Blog from Party Designs!

Back in July I spent an amazing weekend in Northern California.  It was a combo work-play weekend.  The play part was my grandson Jesse’s first birthday.  The kid is pretty cute, if “Nana” does say so herself!

The work part was just as fun.  I had the pleasure of working with a lovely Los Angeles bride (and her wonderful mother) who had booked a destination wedding in Sonoma for the end of September. She and her fiancé chose a lovely old winery, Gundlach Bundschu (“Gun Bun” to the locals) for their wedding.  I spent a lot of time there with the site event manager, Megan; and then another day with the bride, groom and parents.

During those two days, I also had the pleasure of meeting Andrea from the girl + the fig CATERS!  …. She is terrific, has a wonderful catering company and really knows her stuff.  I was lucky enough to take part in a tasting that was totally delicious with beautiful presentation.

Following the tasting, we spent a good deal of time at Wine Country Party and Events with Becca … reviewing all of the rentals;  chairs, linens, dishware and glassware.  Very detailed!  The bride had excellent choices and by the time we were done (with a lot of input from Andrea, the caterer) she had selected a beautiful table top.

Last, but not least, a visit to The Lodge in Sonoma where the wedding party stayed for the weekend.  The hotel is charming and spacious in the best Sonoma tradition.   Our Director of Event Planning, Tracy, made sure that all arrangements were in order for the guests and the Sunday Brunch.

We had outstanding vendors in Northern California!  The videographer was Thomas Huges Film, and I gave him kudos for being flexible and accommodating up to the last minute.  Our other vendors were DJ Dave Tutton; florals by Rebecca & Richard of Blossom Floral in Los Angeles; and hair and makeup from Mariah Nicole (Los Angeles).  I was delighted to be able to recommend Father Brian Delvaux from The Church of the Good Shepherd as the officiant and the bride contracted with Corelli Strings for ceremony music.

All of the pre-planning paid off with a smooth flowing event that was well orchestrated and beautiful. We had a very happy bride and groom!

Below are a few before and after photos of the ceremony and winery reception. The “after” photos are kindly provided by the wedding photographer … Teresa from Tempting Weddings.
